Use Twitter for your social media following and world updates? Then you must have heard about the Twitter spaces update to its Android app. Spaces is a new way to have live audio conversations on Twitter. Audio-based social networking has become the hottest trend in the world right now.
In the latest update to its web and android app services, Twitter has introduced audio chat rooms called Spaces within the app. Twitter Spaces is almost like talking to people in real-time via voice notes. It lets you join, listen, and speak. These spaces are public, so anyone can join as a listener, including people who don’t follow you.
Like Clubhouse, Spaces allow you to create a chatroom that practically anyone can join, provided they have the original broadcast or chatroom link. The new feature has been very slowly rolling out to those already enrolled in the Twitter beta program, but regardless users are seeing the option on their devices.
Twitter Spaces on android app
Twitter Spaces for Android was only officially announced as coming back at the start of March 2021. The creator of a space is the Host. As a Host can start space in two ways: Long press on the Tweet compose on your Home timeline and then tap the new Spaces icon (multiple circles forming a diamond shape) on the far left. Or, tap on your profile image in Fleets, scroll to the far right, and tap Spaces.
It’s quite easy to join Twitter Spaces. You can do this from Twitter for Android. Open the Twitter app You’ll automatically see if someone has started a Space at the top of your timeline, just beside Fleets. Tap the profile of the person who has started Space.
Tap Join this Space. When you wish to speak, you can request mic access from the host. Up to 11 people (including the Host) can speak in a space at any given time. When creating a new space, you will see options to Name your space and Start your space.
