Whatsapp Money Feature is the latest new option available to Whatsapp users in select locations such as India. WhatsApp has been prepping a built-in payment service for its users in India. And the beta version of the app is now showing the new payments interface. It enables money transfer by using the UPI (Unified Payments Interface) program with the country’s most popular banking institutions.

Although not officially announced by the company. Beta testers have noticed a payment option in the attachment menu. According to TechCrunch, iOS users have been able to make payments with the service already. This indeed is good news for the business community that deals for the majority of business ventures on Whatsapp.
To send money on WhatsApp in India, it’s necessary to have a bank account and debit card from a local Indian bank. WhatsApp sends instructions to banks, also known as payment service providers, that initiate the transfer of money via UPI between sender and receiver bank accounts.
You can check this new feature by opening WhatsApp and clicking on the three dots appearing on the top right-hand side of the app. Select the ‘Payments’ option. Select ‘Add Payment Method’. You will be asked to accept the WhatsApp Payment policies. Click on ‘Accept and Continue’.
The service supports a long list of banks in the region, including State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and Axis Bank. When it’s up and running fully it’ll be another boost for what is already by far the most popular messaging service in India.
