You can easily take a screenshot without using the Power Button and Volume button. This trick might not seem that useful but it does come in handy when you have a worn-down volume button or just want to get a quick screenshot with dirty hands.
This article gives you detailed steps to take screenshots of your Android screen without using the physical Power & Volume button and without installing any apps. We will be using the android accessibility Menu which has a helpful feature called the virtual Screenshot button.
Some Android phones such as Samsung and Huawei let you take “Scroll Capture” screenshots, where you can scroll the screen down and capture the entire page. Check your phone’s support pages if you think you might have that.
How to take a screenshot without using the Power Button and Volume button
This one-time setup is required to enable the virtual Screenshot button. The steps below are based on Android 11 running on Google Pixel, if you are using a different Android version and phone, the steps may slightly differ from yours.
1) On your Android device, go to Settings > Accessibility. Tap on “Accessibility Menu”.
2) Inside Accessibility Menu, under Option, turn on “Accessibility Menu Shortcut”.
3) You’ll get prompted with “Allow Accessibility Menu to have full control of your device?” and follow by lengthy description, tap “Allow” to proceed.
4) You’ll get another prompt, this time to let you know how to activate the Accessibility menu. Tap “Got it” once you read it to proceed.
After you’ve taken the screenshot, it will briefly appear as a smaller version and then disappear. A notification will appear at the top of your screen letting you know that the screenshot is being saved. And then, in a few seconds, it will be replaced by a drop-down that.
If you tap it will let you share or delete the screenshot or make some basic edits. That drop-down will also disappear after a few seconds, but if you check your top left notifications bar, you’ll find one for that screenshot.
