In this post, we will tell you how to send gifs on WhatsApp if you don’t know already. Gifs are short looping video clips or animations typically lasting about five seconds. Thanks to online catalogs like Giphy, they can be searched through keywords.
Snapchat announced today that users will be able to send gifs to each other across the platform. But WhatsApp users have been enjoying that feature since 2016. After all, nothing keeps a conversation interesting like an expertly-deployed gif and, thankfully, there are millions to choose from.
Besides it’s easy to send GIFs on WhatsApp to convey an emotion, feeling, or thought to the person you are chatting with.
Search for GIFs on Whatsapp
- Click on the “+” button and select Photo and Video Library to get to your camera roll
- Find the small magnifying glass (bottom left) with the word GIF
- Select this and you’ll see a row of gif images
- You can browse through or search with keywords to find what you want.
OR
- Tap Emoji > GIF.
- Tap Search to search for a specific GIF.
- Tap the GIF you want to send.
- Tap Send.
A selection of GIFs will pop up. Scroll through the screen to see more, or type search terms into the text box to find a specific GIF. Select the GIF that you want to send. A preview screen will pop up that will allow you to edit the GIF, including typing a caption.
Giphy App
To get access to Giphys vast library of gifs, you’ll need to download its app from Google Play. Once it’s installed, change the keyboard in WhatsApp to the new Giphy keyboard. Both of these methods ensure you’ll never be short of a timely gif.
