Samsung One UI 3.5 Update

Let’s talk about the Samsung One UI 3.5 Update. The beginning of 2021 saw Samsung mobile launch a new version of its custom software system — One UI 3.1. Like the One UI 3.0, it is also based on the Android 11 operating system. One UI 3.1 came pre-installed exclusively with the Galaxy S21 series, and today’s mid-range phones also come with this version.

At the same time, Samsung will roll out another version of the One UI, which will also be based on the Android 11 OS. Since the new Galaxy Note phone will not be released this year, the company is increasingly working to launch an innovative foldable smartphone in the third quarter of 2021.

Device leaks also confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2/3 will be equipped with Android 11-based One UI 3.5 version. Like previous generation products, Samsung will also provide One UI 3.5 for its eligible flagship and mid-range phones and tablets through firmware updates.

Samsung One UI 3.5 Update

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 are likely to come pre-install with On UI 3.5 out of the box. Being a minor update to One UI, version 3.1 doesn’t make any design changes. However, Samsung has simplified and decluttered some menus, particularly the quick toggles area in the notification shade.

By default, the notification shade shows only a select few quick toggles. And the rest have to be manually added as needed. The biggest highlight is the addition of Google Discover on the home screen. One UI 3.1 lets users select between Google Discover on the left-most home screen. Or Samsung Free/Samsung Daily, so they can decide where they get their daily news fix.

One UI 3.1 also makes Google Messages native, with various optimizations exclusive to Galaxy devices. Samsung has introduced video call effects. These effects let you blur the background in video calls. A custom image can be set as well if blurring out the background isn’t enough.

There are also minor new features littered throughout the user interface. One UI 3.1 allows the removal of location data from photos and videos before they are shared with others. And the blue light filter feature has been renamed Eye Comfort Shield. It automatically limits blue light exposure based on the time of day
