iPhone to Android migration made Easy

iPhone to Android migration made Easy by a potential new feature that could allow iPhone users to transfer photos from iCloud directly to the Google Photos app. Ever since 2020 Google had been working on a dedicated iOS app to make it easy to move from an iPhone or iPad to an Android phone or tablet.

And this latest update would solve a major pain for iPhone users who would hesitate while switching smartphone platforms. Just because all of their photos and data are stored within the Apple ecosystem.

According to 9to5 Google, A look within the APK uploaded to the Play Store shows a line of code that hints Google is serious about giving users an easy way to transfer images over a Wi-Fi connection.

This app will connect your old iOS device to your new Android over WiFi. This would enable them to copy data directly. Versus the current method which involves backing up your data to Google Drive and restoring it.

the Switch to Android app would be able to copy your contacts, messages, and possibly even your apps between devices.

Switch to Android will be able to automatically migrate all of your photos and videos from your iCloud over to Google Photos.

It’s not clear when Google plans to launch the Switch to Android app. But it’s a long time coming considering Apple has long offered an equivalent for Android users on the Google Play store.

Which makes setting up a new iPhone a relative doddle if you’re crossing the divide from Google-based devices. Perhaps we’ll hear more at Google I/O later this spring.
