With the advances in AI technology and smart apps everybody seems to be in a race to the finish line. Google most certainly seems to be taking the bull by its horns with the introduction of its Google Photos Obstruction Removal Feature.
This feature was first introduced by Google’s CEO back in 2017 that left the whole developer community in a buzz. But since then no follow-up or an update for Google photos with this feature has been insight. Some were hoping Google would offer an update on the now-mythical feature at this year’s developer conference.
While the company announced some cool enhancements to Google Photos app at I/O 2018, there was no official follow-up on the fate of the buzzworthy feature that showed off last year. But now there’s a word that it has been deprioritized and may not be anywhere close to a rollout.
Google Photos Obstruction Removal Feature
Basically the concept behind this feature was obviously obstruction removal. This feature definitely does sound out of this world when we consider today’s technology. To understand it better let’s suppose you take multiple pictures in the same spot and it’ll remove the differences.
Like you can photograph a busy street and it’ll remove all the people. It can start a new revolution in the selfie and mobile photography world.
When to Expect
That can be termed as a really good question. There does not seem to be any sign of this app on the horizon since its announcement back in 2017. There are thousands of concepts we can think of but the most likely is that the developers might be having a tough time.
When it comes to image re-calibrate at this small level of a mobile device, it can be a really tough thing. CGI is usually used in movies to re-calibrate images and remove obstructions. We will just have to wait and watch and see when and what google does.
