Google Photos Christmas Update arrived just in time to make our photos a lot more fun just like they did last year. With the addition of Cinematic photos that were introduced around this time last year. This feature gives still images more depth and movement so that the most important parts pop out at the viewer.
This year Google is upgrading the machine learning aspects that fill the background behind your photos. This photos app update should make the end-result much cleaner than before and allow more movement in the image. It’s undoubtedly similar to what Google uses for Magic Eraser.

Google is also highlighting its new People & Pets widget. And with the latest change to Memories, Google Photos is now grouping photos based on major events like birthdays and holidays so you can have them in one easily viewable carousel.
After the latest updates, users can visit their memories from smart displays like the Nest Hub (2nd Gen). And they can also edit people and pets out of their memories so that Google Photos will only show them the moments they want to see.
Users are also seeing the AI-powered reel at the top of the Photos view. While it’s not yet been rolled out to everyone, you should see it appear alongside other themed galleries at the top of the app’s home screen.
The ‘Best of 2021′ feature follows a recent expansion of Google Photos’ Memories galleries. Your Memories section can now include AI-generated takes on your ‘recent highlights’ and ‘themed memories’
