Are you ready to get the Android 12 Privacy Dashboard? This latest android OS dashboard lets you see and control how apps use your phone’s features such as GPS, Mic, and Camera. Here’s how to get it on your device today.
Android 12 is currently in the beta phase and Google plans to release the proper or stable edition by September 2021. But if you have an old phone from early 2020 or before that then chances of you receiving the update this year are slim.
But don’t worry because like previous times we will always bring you a way around the update restrictions on your legacy phones. There is this new app that brings the Android 12 Privacy Dashboard to any current Android device without an update.
How to get the android 12 privacy dashboard?
This simple app called the Privacy Dashboard tries to replicate the functionality of the original dashboard. It has the same interface and the same detailed view of permission usage. Similar to the real Dashboard, you can see both the permission history and an app’s usage of different permissions.
The app is free and ad-free. There’s an in-app purchase option that enables you to support the developer if you find it useful. The best part about the app is that it brings two features of Android 12. The Privacy Dashboard app can also add privacy indicators to your current device.
This app does a good job of replicating these indicators. And you can customize them, such as changing the position of the indicators, their size and opacity, adding a bezel margin, etc. But the app does require location and accessibility settings access. The developer says allowing accessibility permission avoids the app having direct access to the camera and microphone.
The permission essentially gives the Privacy Dashboard app access to read all the content on your screen. And without accessibility access, the Privacy Dashboard won’t be able to log the Android apps’ usage of sensitive permissions. Let us know what you think by commenting below.
